Roadside memorials
RoadPeace believes that all those bereaved through road crashes have the right to place a roadside memorial at or near the crash site in remembrance of their loved one.
Local authorities have differing policies on roadside memorials and families often find it upsetting if flowers and tributes are removed without their knowledge or permission. Your police family liaison officer (FLO) may be able to escort you to the scene of the crash so that you can leave tributes safely.
It is also worth finding out whether your local authority has a roadside memorial policy in place. This is something your FLO may be able to advise you about.
There are different types of memorials that you may wish to consider.
